Romans The table below shows some of the differences between the Old Covenant law and the New Covenant law of Christ and illustrates the striking dichotomy between the two. No, they do not. Jesus died for our past sins Romans , and He has done all of the rest, too. We are lawful because of His death and life for us. Thus, we can say that we are not under any external law, such as the Old Covenant, but we are in-lawed or lawful because we are in Christ and in the New Covenant.
Old Covenant vs. New Covenant
Thus, there is no contradiction between Romans and 1 Corinthians We are not under law; we are under grace, and we are under grace because we are in Jesus Christ with His righteousness imputed to us and because we are in the New Covenant. That is, they are internalized.
They contain no condemnation and can never impute sin. He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Moses , who led the people out, served as the mediator of this contract, which was made at Mount Sinai. God promised that the people of Israel would be his chosen people, and he would be their God Exodus If they complied, he pledged prosperity and protection in the Promised Land. Altogether, there were laws, covering every aspect of human behavior.
Our Part In The New Covenant Of Grace | Being Part of the New Covenant
Males had to be circumcised, sabbaths had to be observed, and people had to obey hundreds of dietary, social, and hygiene rules. All these regulations were intended to protect the Israelites from their neighbors' pagan influences, but no one could keep so many laws. To address the people's sins , God set up a system of animal sacrifices , in which the people provided cattle, sheep, and doves to be killed.
Sin required blood sacrifices. Under the Old Covenant, those sacrifices were carried out at the desert tabernacle. Invaders eventually destroyed the temples, but when they were rebuilt, the sacrifices resumed. That system of animal sacrifice lasted hundreds of years, but even so, it was only temporary. Out of love, God the Father sent his only Son, Jesus, into the world. This New Covenant would resolve the problem of sin once and for all.
For three years, Jesus taught throughout Israel about the kingdom of God and his role as Messiah. To support his claim as Son of God , he performed many miracles, even raising three people from the dead. Some churches say the New Covenant began with Jesus' crucifixion. Besides serving as the sacrifice, Jesus also became the new high priest Hebrews As high priest, Jesus constantly intercedes for his followers before his Father in heaven.
Individuals may now approach God themselves; they no longer need a human high priest to speak for them.
